From the moment a child enters MSSA, practical life skills are taught. For example, in Primary students learn how to fold clothing, wash dishes, and sew. In LE students learn about pet care and care of the environment, and in UE students learn how to prepare food and continue caring for a classroom pet. Yesterday the middle school joined forces with Lowes and added another element to practical life skills. Each year, classrooms create a Gala project to be auctioned off in April. This year the middle school chose to build patio furniture. With that in mind, Lowes graciously helped us out. They donated all of the materials needed for the furniture, brought in a crew of five people to teach tool safety, and taught lessons on using a drill. Afterward, groups of five students followed a building plan to create each chair. It was an excellent experience for all of the students.
